Seb founded Espotting in 2000 the company that pioneered Search Marketing and Pay-Per-Click Advertising in the Europe. Espotting was valued at $186m when it merged with FindWhat in 2004. In 2005, the companies re-branded to MIVA.
Espotting won a string of industry awards including 'Most Dynamic UK Media Company,' 'Fastest growing IT company' and the FT's 'Top 50 Creative Business.' Seb's accolades include Campaign's 'A-List', Media Week's '30 Under 30' and a finalist of the London Stock Exchange sponsored 'Technology Entrepreneur of the Year.'
Prior to setting up Espotting he was a senior art director at Rainey Kelly Campbell Rolfe/Y&R and Publicis, creating award-winning campaigns for the likes of Coca-Cola, Virgin and Nintendo.
Seb is also a non-executive director of Future plc (LSE: FUTR), the international special interest media group; and is Chairman of the board of digital marketing agency Steak Media.
Klaus is a seasoned entrepreneur and well respected business angel. Prior to joining Balderton, Klaus spent several years as a private investor. He has a successful investment track record in European technology and media companies including Skype, Midas Player (king.com), StarDoll and OpenBC. In addition to investing in Europe, Klaus has spent considerable time in China, and has an extensive network in the Chinese Internet/Media sector, including working closely with TomGroup.
Earlier in his career, Klaus joined AOL in 1995 and spent several years on the Management Board where he was responsible for business development, content and advertising sales. He was also involved in the establishment of Freenet.de AG and served on its Supervisory Board for a number of years. After AOL, Klaus was at Apax Partners in Munich and Zurich. Klaus started his career at Deutsche Bank.
Awards: Klaus was recently elected Europe's "Entrepreneurial Private Investor 2006" by the three leading European education and research institutions IESE, INSEAD and the University of St.Gallen.
Education: Klaus holds a master and PHD in Finance from Fribourg University (Switzerland).
René Rechtman currently serves as the Group Managing Director for Goviral - a global online video content and ad network focused on delivering high impact viral video content for major global brand advertisers. Prior to that he was Vice President International at TradeDoubler, a leading European provider of online performance based marketing solutions with offices in 18 countries. René has been part of TradeDoubler since it was founded, and has held several positions on the management board. He was responsible for TradeDoubler's Advertiser, Agency and Publishers Sales globally having previously helped build TradeDoubler's international client and strategic partnerships business and been the MD of TradeDoubler's Danish operation.
Prior to TradeDoubler; he was European VP for Business Development at Incentive/ALTO, a Danish management and financial holding that was a global player in the industrial service industry, worked as a strategy and communication consultant for several years in Scandinavia and Brussels with multinational clients such as Mattel, Coca-Cola, Monsanto and APEAL and was part of the Centre for Stakeholding and Sustainable Enterprise team that conducted stakeholder research for The Body Shop International and Novo Nordisk.
He is involved in several new economy start-ups, holding advisory board positions in a number of growing companies; his involvement ranging from developing businesses and internationalisation, to advising on day-to-day management issues.
René has a background in Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, where he holds an MSc and BSc, and has published several articles on business strategy and communication.
Co Founder and CEO
Michael brings over 10 years experience in all aspects of internet advertising to AdJug. He has an extensive background in general management, marketing, sales and product development both in small and large growth businesses and a deep knowledge of strategic marketing with regards to online marketplaces. Before founding AdJug, Michael was the Managing Director of Gumtree.com, the UK's leading online classifieds site which was acquired by eBay in 2005. Michael took the company from break even to high margin profitability doubling annual revenues, users and traffic. Prior to that Michael was eBay's Marketing Director in Germany for over three years, directly responsible for a 100+ million dollar annual marketing budget and managing, building a high-powered marketing team. During his tenure, eBay's reach in Germany grew from 6% to over 50%. Michael started out as eBay's Head of Categories in Germany in 2001. Other positions included Managing Director of web startup urbia.com UK Ltd and Head of Interactive at Zippel Communications. Michael holds a BA in Journalism from Cologne Journalism School and a Master of Business from Cologne University.
Co Founder & Director
Satish comes with over seven years of entrepreneurial experience in launching and running profitable businesses. He is an expert on performance-driven, contextual ad models. Recently, as the Director of Strategy (EU) for MIVA, Satish closed a number of innovative deals which laid the ground for the future strategy of MIVA.
Prior to MIVA, Satish founded Nixxie.com - the UK's first contextual advertising platform. As one of the founding team members of Espotting.com (NASDAQ: MIVA), he was responsible for the concept and the launch of Europe's first PPC syndication platform. Subsequently he closed syndication deals for Espotting accounting for over £40m in annual revenues with partners such as Dennis Publishing, ITV, Tiscali, Ask.com and Yahoo. Satish started his career as a Sales Manager for Mitsubishi Electric (TYO: 6503) in their Space & Satellite Systems division. Satish holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Robert Gordon University.
He has been earmarked by Growing Business Magazine as one of the UK’s top 30 young entrepreneurs and also been featured in the Courvoisier Future 500.
Director
Christoph Schuh (*1964)graduated in management studies in Cologne with a Diplom-Kaufmann degree before starting his career in 1991 as a management assistant at the VOX TV station. Until 1994 he was in charge of marketing services there. He then joined Verlagsgruppe Milchstrasse, developing the media marketing and online marketing department, of which he was in charge until he moved to TOMORROW Internet AG. With the foundation of TOMORROW Internet AG in 1999 he took over as Chief Marketing Officer. Since 21 December 2001 Christoph Schuh has been Chief Marketing Officer at TOMORROW FOCUS AG.
